A Guide to the Best Ponds on Cape Cod AND the Best Ways of Preserving Them,
A Guide to the Best Ponds on Cape Cod AND the Best Ways of Preserving Them, a Turtle Sisters and CARE for the Cape & Islands collaboration by Susan Baur, aims to keep Cape Cod ponds healthy and useful for all by teaching residents and visitors how pond ecosystems work. “If visitors understand how soil, plants, water, pond weed, and wildlife interact, they can help the ponds they visit instead of hurting them.”
With this premise, Baur, who writes the Turtle Sisters children’s books and who swims all over Cape Cod, sets out to show us some of the ponds she loves. Each hidden or unusual pond she visits is worth a trip, but each also illustrates a problem that affects other kettle holes. The Guide is a collaboration between Baur and Jill Talladay, the founder and CEO of CARE for the Cape and Islands. 100% of the proceeds of guide sales through this site will be used to support programs that preserve the natural environment, culture and history of Cape Cod and the Islands.
