This grant provided funding for a free standing outdoor water bottle filling station with fountain for public use at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge.

The Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, located in the town of Chatham MA, is one of the most visited sites in the town. The 40 acre parcel located on Morris Island is open to the public year round and hosts over 40 thousand visitors annually. This number includes both locals and travelers from all over the world. Activities at the Refuge include both guided and unguided walks, bird watching, photography, beach combing, recreational surf fishing and clamming.

The use of a water bottle fill station acts as a reminder to encourage responsible stewardship of the environment. The fill station will help generate less waste and fit well with the refuge policy of “carry in-carry out”. It will also encourage the use of reusable containers.
