Stewardship Award

Each fall CARE for the Cape and Islands seeks nominations for a Stewardship Award to be presented at an annual Fall Event. Beginning in 2018 a business/organization and a Youth (18 or younger) who shares the same values will be recognized.

The stewardship award is presented to a Cape or Island business/organization that:

  • Shows a commitment to Caring for the Cape and Islands
  • Has adopted day-to-day practices that fit CARE’s mission to preserve and enhance its natural environment, culture or history.

Please send nominations to Include the business name, an explanation of why the business deserves the award and your contact information. 

2018 Stewardship Award Recipients:

Recipients were announced November 1st at the “CARE for a Clean Cape & Islands Summit” held at Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.  Michael Morrison, RideAway Adventures received the 2018 business/organization award. For the first time, CARE also presented a Youth Stewardship Award to recognize the contributions of a local youth (18 or younger) who also embodies the same qualities. This year’s award was presented to Lucy Swain.

2017 Stewardship Award Recipient:

The 2017 Stewardship Award was presented to Compost With Me. Below, Mary B Ryther, owner accepted the award from CARE Director, Jill Talladay at the 5 Year Anniversary celebration held November 2, 2018 at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

2016 Stewardship Award Recipient:

The 2016 Stewardship Award was presented to Cape Cod Beer. Below, Todd and Beth Marcus, owners of Cape Cod Beer accepting the award from CARE Director, Jill Talladay.
