Started in May of 2024, the Mashpee Market, Mashpee Chamber of Commerce, Naukabout Brewery, and Lemonadio hosted its first farmers/makers market to attract both visitors and locals to Mashpee to purchase goods, enjoy entertainment, and learn about environmental sustainability through various programs. Mashpee Market’s goal is to create a sustainable and environmentally responsible event that increases visibility and education towards reusing and reducing plastic waste that are overwhelming our landfills and seeping into our cherished Cape Cod waterways, and even into our own bodies.
CARE provided a grant for a pilot reusable cup program for the market. Beverages purchased at the market are served in reusable aluminum cups as part of a “Drink, Wash, Repeat” campaign. The cups may be taken home as a souvenir and reused. They may also be returned for a refill and receive a discount on their next purchase.
